Gerhard and Elli Burau
Thank you for visiting our missionary page! Allow us the chance to tell you more about who we are and what we are doing. We are the Burau family: Gerhard, Elli, Ben, Malte, Hannah, and Lars. Since 2018, we have been living in Texas, where Gerhard has been pursuing his Ph.D. in Christian Education. We look forward to graduating in December 2025.
As we transition back to Germany, we are excited to see how God will use our experience and calling to strengthen Christian education in our home country.
We are called to advance the Christian faith-based school movement and equip Christian teachers to train and mentor the next generation of educators who will shape young lives with biblical truth. Our mission is to support Christian schools, churches, and families and to consult educational institutions in Germany by bridging academic research and Christian education.
To accomplish this, we plan to partner with Christian school associations, teacher academies, and churches in Germany. Kontaktmission provides an excellent platform to make these partnerships and this important work possible.
Our work is driven by a commitment to seeing children and young people grow in their faith through well-prepared and spiritually grounded educators.
Faith-Based Education: A New Horizon for Germany
Germany is a country with a rich history, a strong economy, and a well-established education system. Yet, in recent years, education has faced growing challenges, particularly with the increasing influence of secular ideologies, including gender ideology in early childhood education. Many Christian parents and educators are concerned about the absence of biblical values in schools and are searching for alternatives that align with their faith and promote the Gospel of Jesus.
At the same time, there is great hope. The demand for Christian faith-based schools is growing, and more parents are seeking education that nurtures both academic and Christian spiritual development. Over the past 30 years, new Christian schools have been established, with even more on the horizon. However, these schools need dedicated and well-prepared leaders, teachers, and administrators to guide them through Germany’s complex educational landscape. Our mission is to equip and empower these educators, ensuring that Christian education continues to thrive and teach future generations to know and love Christ.
