Prayer Thought: Fervent Prayer

Prayer Thought: Fervent Prayer In our ever-increasing culture (inside and outside the church) of co-dependency, self-sufficiency, and tolerance: everyone-does-what-they-think-is-right-in-their-own-eyes-so-don’t-you-dare-judge-me mentality, we MUST be a people who hold prayer not just as a spiritual discipline we know we need to do. Rather it must be the very passion of all we do in KM and the churches we aspire to assist and our lives in general. “Prayer was the very lifeblood of the New Testament church; that is, the early believers in Christ truly lived out an attitude of God-dependency. Prayer, not self-sufficiency, was their habitual practice. That is, they did …

Prayer Thought: The Hindrance is SO Worth It

The Hindrance is SO Worth It I’ve recently been reading quite a bit on prayer from E.M. Bounds on The Purpose in Prayer. So, here’s our prayer quote/thought to begin the week: “To graduate in the school of prayer is to master the whole course of a religious life. The first and last stages of holy living are crowned with praying. It is a life trade. The hindrances of prayer are the hindrances in a holy life. The conditions of praying are the conditions of righteousness, holiness and salvation. Prayer is a trade to be learned. We must be apprentices …

Prayer Thought: Grace Empowered Work

Prayer Thought: Grace Empowered Work “No need to fear what God will ask of you, because in the asking is always the promise of grace to empower your heart and hands (Paul Tripp).”  This week let’s delight in the fact that our work for the Kingdom has nothing to do with the difficulty of the task or even our perception of how to solve and answer so many details in this great work we do. Instead, it has everything to do with the incredible fact that God goes before us and with us in all of it. Prayer Action:  So, …

Prayer Thought: But God…

Prayer Thought: But God… I’ve been struck the past couple of weeks with this phrase, “But God…” It speaks to His immense care for us as His children. Plus, ya gotta love the BUTS of the Bible! Verses like, “BUT GOD, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love that He had for us, made us alive with the Messiah even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace (Eph. 2:4-5)!” And, “BUT GOD proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Rom. 5:8)!” communicate that …

Prayer Thought: What’s in You?

Prayer Thought: What’s in You? This is a great quote from C.S. Lewis, “Pray what is in you, not what SHOULD be in you!” I think that speaks for itself, but I have a couple thoughts. Right now, here at Kontaktmission, we have a lot of folks who have been doing missions ministry and also those who we have “onboarded” in recent weeks and months. All of this while still dealing with the difficulties of the pandemic, racial unrest, political banter, and close-mindedness due to “exvangelicals” and “deconstructing” one’s faith. We have missionaries who have suffered loss, staff who have suffered loss …
