Andrea Hellemann

I am a missionary who originally comes for Germany, but I am thankful for a season of time in the United States when I connected deeply with my sending church, Abingdon Bible Church, in Abingdon, Virginia. Right now, I am working in Tanzania amongst children/street children who are addicted to drugs. Since 2004 I have been working with children/street children, but in recent years, it has been harder to help them since the age that these children are starting on drugs is getting younger and younger. There is no help for children under the age of 18 to help them to recover from drugs. I saw the need to start a ministry to help these children to get back on track and get a future for their lives. We started our ministry in Dodoma, the capitol city of Tanzania. Our goals are to teach children, the community and the schools about the problems and danger of drugs. We are also doing outreach by going on the streets, visiting and building relationships with the children. In addition, we are helping them to get rehabilitation as well as reintegration into their family, schools and communities.

BRINGING THE GOSPEL TO TANZANIA

Tanzania is a result of the unification of Tanganyika (the mainland) and the Zanzibar islands. Tanganyika and Zanzibar united on 26th April 1964, forming the United Republic of Tanzania. Tanganyika became independent from the British on December 1961 and Zanzibar became free through a revolution on 12th January 1964. The First President was Nyerere and he made Dodoma the capitol City of Tanzania. The main beliefs in Tanzania are Islam, Animism and Christianity.

Support our ministry

It is no secret that from the very beginning of the church Christians have taken an active role in being missionaries and sending missionaries. Yet not all are called to be missionaries. (We are all called to make disciples)

Being a missionary is a calling, but have you ever considered that sending missionaries is also a calling? So what is your calling? Are you the missionary or a missionary sender?

Please consider joining our sending team by partnering with us in prayer and partnering with us financially.

We are so thankful for everyone who is partnering with us in prayer and financially. Without this help, our ministry would not be possible. At this point, I also want to thank everybody who helped me in the past and everyone who is supporting us to help these children to get a Second Chance in their lives.

Prayer Needs

  1. Pray that we will be able to get some land so that we can start building a rehab center for the drug-addicted children
  2. Pray for good response in the schools, community, and government offices
  3. Pray for the relatives of the street children to understand and support their children
  4. Pray that the children will know Jesus Christ and trust him to help to stay clean
