Jeremie Project Congo

The Jeremie Project Congo is a ministry in the eastern part of the mineral rich country of the Congo—yet one of the poorest populations in the world lives as day laborers or low paid workers. The ministry aims to facilitate education, give hope and a future to people living in village in the vicinity of Bukavu, the capital city of South Kivu. Our Team is 100% Congolese who know the language and culture, traditional background and the challenges that all day life brings connected to poverty, poor access to health care, war and displacement.

The project is named after Jeremie, a 14-year-old boy who had surgery at Chahi Hospital in November 2017. After he recovered, he couldn’t leave the hospital because his parents couldn’t pay the bill, and he was at risk of being expelled from school.

One of the projects within the next two years is to complete a Secondary School. This school will not only help young people gain their diploma, but they will also get an education in several different fields—one of which is a carpentry. Construction needs to start, and then equipping the building, in order for many young people to learn, study, and later gain the knowledge to earn their own money or start their own business becoming an employer themselves. Through this system, many families are being helped to become independent from landlords or having to work as day laborers.
