Ervin & Mary Mittelmann

I (Ervin) grew up without knowing God despite my Jewish heritage from my father and Catholic background from my mother. Raised by deaf parents. I was a lost boy. At 19 I found Jesus and dedicated my life to Him. After this, I pursued theological studies and became passionate about seeing the lost come to Jesus.

My wife Mary and I were married in 2004 and we have 2 children: Filip, 18, and Miriam, 15. I've been a pastor for 16 years, leading Mozaika church, which was founded, and I'm part of Slovakia's church planting network: Plant.sk.

THE BEGINNINGS: Our church, established in 2014 with six members and two children, initially lacked finances, leaders, crowd, or spaces. Currently, we have grown to 30 members and 22 children (5X growth), with only six families having a Christian background. In 2023, six individuals were baptized.

SLOVAKIA - THE URGENCY OF THE GOSPEL

With 5.5 million inhabitants and a communist past transitioning to democracy in 1989, is now part of Western structures. Culturally strongly divided, it is predominantly Roman Catholic, with Bible-believing Christianity representing only 0.2% of the population, emphasizing the urgency for gospel discipleship.

KOŠICE CITY, with 250,000 residents and located 60 miles from the Ukrainian border, serves as Eastern Slovakia's educational, cultural, and economic center. 0.4% of Košice's population identifies with evangelical Christianity.

Support our ministry

It is no secret that from the very beginning of the church Christians have taken an active role in being missionaries and sending missionaries. Yet not all are called to be missionaries. (We are all called to make disciples)

Being a missionary is a calling, but have you ever considered that sending missionaries is also a calling? So what is your calling? Are you the missionary or a missionary sender?

All Kontaktmission staff live on support, meaning we believe that God will provide for his mission, through his church.

Please consider joining our sending team by partnering with us in prayer and partnering with us financially.

Prayer Needs

  1. Pray with us for Slovaks to be open-hearted and receptive to the gospel message. Also, ask for our church, communities, and individuals to do a great job communicating the message of salvation clearly and effectively.
  2. Join us in praying for passionate worshippers, devoted disciples of Christ, builders of God's family, and humble servants to grow among us.
  3. Please pray for the growth of leaders and the multiplication of our 9 discipleship groups that we currently have.
  4. Pray for us to secure finances for new spaces that our church urgently needs. It's essential for our youth work, Ukrainian outreach, and worship services.
