Volodymyr and Tetiana Pidhornyi

Hello, we are Vova (short for Volodymyr) and Tanya (short for Tetiana) Pidhornyi.

My name is Vova, and I was born into a family of believers—the ninth of ten children. I lost my parents at a young age and married Tanya when I was nineteen.

Tanya grew up in a non-believing family, without a father, and was the first in her family to come to faith in God.

We are very different from each other, yet God brought us together and blessed us with three children—Matthew, Elijah, and Nadiia. Even before we began our life together as a family, He placed a desire in our hearts to serve others — together, as a family.

We have a missionary calling, and have already had the opportunity to serve in one of the countries of Central Asia. We had been planning to return there for some time, but when the full-scale war in Ukraine broke out, we were unable to leave the country. Since then, we have been serving displaced people here for the past four years.

Right now, much in our lives is uncertain, as it is for so many others. We are still in Ukraine, in the midst of war—and yet we are deeply grateful and blessed. We are planning to move to a country in Central Asia later this year to serve there, just as we had originally planned.

This country is one of the least reached and most spiritually challenging countries for Christianity in the entire region. Ninety-nine percent of the population is Muslim, and many live in remote villages without electricity or clean water. Even more heartbreaking, countless people there have never heard the name of Jesus Christ as Savior.

Missionary work is forbidden and illegal there, and any open proclamation of the gospel carries serious consequences. For this reason, we are careful about what we share publicly and have chosen not to disclose the name of the country. We appreciate your understanding.

We continue to pray that the situation will change, so that one day every missionary will be able to serve there freely and openly.

In the meantime, we plan to serve there through our professions, using our skills and work as a doorway into the community.
